About EMB Advisory

Our Firm

We are a financial advisory firm that specializes in helping companies evaluate, structure, secure and manage debt financing.

When we started our business in 2018, we observed a significant disparity in debt financing outcomes across middle-market private companies (i.e., two similar companies with meaningfully varied financing access, costs and terms). Since then, market dynamics have persisted, making it increasingly complex and time-consuming for borrowers to navigate debt capital markets.

Our mission is to provide sophisticated and differentiated advice, backed by our firm’s intellectual capital, to level the playing field and drive optimal financing solutions that protect stakeholders and accelerate growth.

Zach Alpern

Advisory Board Member

Zach Alpern serves as an Advisory Board Member of EMB Advisory.

Zach brings over 20 years of debt capital markets and special situations experience. Previously, Zach worked in the Private Credit group at Investcorp, where he was a member of the credit committee and helped lead origination and underwriting activities for middle-market borrowers. Prior, Zach worked as a Managing Director at Stifel, where he executed private credit transactions for middle-market borrowers, and before that as a member of the Leveraged Finance group at BlackRock where he focused on distressed investments.

Zach graduated from the Georgetown University, where he received a B.A. in History & Political Economy.

John Dibble

Advisory Board Member

John Dibble serves as an Advisory Board Member of EMB Advisory.

John brings over 20 years of debt capital markets and private credit experience. Previously, John served as a Managing Director at Stifel, where he executed private credit transactions for middle-market borrowers, and as a Principal of Investcorp’s U.S. Private Credit Group, where he helped manage funds focused on U.S. private credit. Prior, John worked as a Vice President in the high-yield and distressed trading group at Cantor Fitzgerald, and before that, an Associate in the Special Situations Group at Bank of America.

John graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, where he received a B.S. in Economics.

James Gulka

Advisory Board Member

James Gulka serves as an Advisory Board Member of EMB Advisory.

James brings over 35 years of experience as a commercial credit officer and loan portfolio manager. Previously, James spent over 20 years at KeyBank, where he began as a Credit Manager and progressed to become a Senior Vice President and Corporate Credit Officer of the equipment financing group. Prior, James served as an Associate at Citigroup, and before that, a Credit Analyst at Capital Associates International.

James graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he received a B.S. in Finance.

Erich Marriott

Advisory Board Member

Erich Marriott, CMA serves as an Advisory Board Member of EMB Advisory.

Erich brings over 20 years of debt capital markets and credit research experience. Previously, Erich worked at Bloomberg, where he served as a Credit Analyst, covering research on bonds and syndicated loans, and as a Business Manager of the Credit Analysis Product Vertical, where he developed key capital structure and credit analysis functionality for Bloomberg Professional Terminals. Prior to Bloomberg, Erich worked as a Vice President in the high-yield corporate bond research team at Citigroup, and before that, at BNP Paribas.

Erich graduated from the University of Vermont where he received a B.S.B.A in Finance, and from Fordham University, where he received a MBA in Finance. Erich is also a Certified Management Accountant.

Subramani Naidu

Sr Vice President, Research

Subramani Naidu serves as a Senior Vice President of EMB Advisory. Subramani helps lead private credit research activities.

Subramani brings over 20 years of capital markets research experience working at global investment banks. Subramani previously worked as an Information Specialist in the Investment Banking Research Divisions at JP Morgan (previously Bear Stearns), UBS and Nomura, where he helped lead capital market research for public companies across a broad range of industries.

Subramani graduated from Mumbai University, where he received a degree in Business.

Robin Strauss

Robin Strauss serves as a Senior Vice President of EMB Advisory. Robin helps lead business development and operational activities.

Robin brings over 25 years of business management and operational leadership experience. Robin previously owned and operated a business-to-business sales company, which helped businesses develop effective client databases and pipelines. Robin also has significant experience building and training corporate teams.

Robin graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, where she received a degree in Social Work, and from Brandeis University, where she received a Masters.

Vedaansh Agarwal serves as an Associate of EMB Advisory. Vedaansh helps support underwriting and execution of debt capital advisory and strategic advisory assignments.

Prior to joining EMB Advisory, Vedaansh worked as a Valuation Associate for PwC, where he helped conduct valuation and public market analyses for private companies. Previously, Veedansh worked in the corporate finance department for Hotelogix, a hotel management software company, and before that held internships in M&A and credit.

Veedansh graduated from La Martinière Calcutta, where he received a degree in Business. Vedaansh also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 1 certification.

Peter Pham

Peter Pham serves as a Senior Vice President of EMB Advisory. Peter helps lead underwriting and execution of debt capital advisory and strategic advisory assignments.

Prior to joining EMB Advisory, Peter served as a consultant for private companies advising on strategic matters related to capital raising situations. Previously, Peter worked at J.P. Morgan, where he supported merger & acquisition and capital markets advisory assignments for large-cap Industrial and Technology, Media & Telecommunication companies.

Peter graduated from Southern Methodist University, where he received a B.B.A in Finance, and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received a Master’s in Finance.

Ethan Bohbot

Ethan Bohbot serves as Managing Partner of EMB Advisory. Ethan has led the firm since its inception in 2018.

Prior to founding EMB Advisory, Ethan served as a consultant for private companies advising on strategic matters related to acquisition and financing situations totaling over $2 billion in transaction value. Previously, Ethan worked at Melvin Capital, an equity long/short hedge fund, where he helped underwrite public equity investments with a focus on short-selling, and before that, at The Blackstone Group, where he supported merger & acquisition and capital markets advisory assignments for large-cap companies.

Ethan graduated from the Business Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin, where he received a B.B.A in Finance.
